Develop the right attitude
Many companies don't realizeSmart lubricationThe importance of a well-structured lubrication program that assigns routine but more important lubrication tasks to unqualified personnel in the organization. This can lead to equipment failures, many of which may not be traced to lubrication but are considered normal equipment failures.
More and more companies are realizing the importance of lubrication, so don’t bury lubrication as a meaningful task in your organization. They usually assign it as a function within the maintenance organization, and in some cases as part of solidity if such a separate group exists. Lubricators are typically maintenance personnel responsible for many tasks, with the primary task being to maintain equipment. This brings to light the importance of lubrication as a critical component in equipment life. Lubrication is not considered a task to be performed as time permits.
The right attitude is set at the top of the organization and can go down to the maintenance and reliability groups that should be responsible for lubrication. Over the past few years, more and more factory top managers have finally begun to realize the importance of lubrication.
Every plant needs someone who is knowledgeable about lubrication and can be a productive conduit between the lubrication supplier and the plant. He/she works as a consultant to resolve lubrication related issues. In the past, the steel industry had highly qualified lubrication engineers called "lubrication engineers." It is not uncommon to find multiple people performing this task in a factory.
Their time is mainly allocated to lubrication. Sadly, with an increase in headcount reductions and retirements over the past few years, lubrication engineers have gone the way of the dinosaur.
